The Delta city of Tanis (modern San el-Hagar), capital of the 21st Dynasty kings. Tanis was embellished with artifacts and monuments taken from other, more ancient sites, including Per-Ramesse, the Delta city built by Ramesses II. The kings of Tanis were buried in the precincts of the Mut temple.
