Papyrus
JE 31199  Cairo Antiquity Museum

Material: Papyrus
Size: Length: 55 cm; Width 13 cm
Location: Tuna el-Gebel
Period: 19th or 20th Dynasty (1307-1070 BC)

This is a rare graphical papyrus, which, to many scholars represents the ancient Egypt's idea of humor. It was apparently not altogether uncommon to have animals depicted in the act of doing work or other tasks normally done by humans.
