The Monastery of St. Jeremiah remains are located to the east of the pyramid of Sekhemkhet. This monastery was founded during the 5th century. The Arabs destroyed it 5 centuries later. The monastery was discovered in 1907 and many of the items found inside are in the Coptic Museum in Cairo.
