| Press Release Egypt’s Minister of Tourism Egypt Update March 20, 1998 Discovery of a Pharaonic tomb in Sohag A Pharaonic tomb dating back to the old kingdom (2613 BC - 2181 BC) was discovered by an Egyptian Archaeological Mission in Sohag - south of Egypt. The Pharaonic tomb belonged to a governor called Ithy and his family and the mummies found in the tomb were intact.
