NOMINATED, Aswan, by Spain’s National UNESCO Committee, as a finalist for the UNESCO Award for Cities of Peace. The award is handed out every two years to an urban center that provides activities, facilities and programs that improve its citizens standards of living and encourage citizens to respect the environment.
