This is a universal problem. I rememeber there is a debate about whether or not to bury the great Sphinx (sp?)in the sand again to prevent erosion.
I agree that it is a shame that the Theban sites are being destroyed by their own fame. All the condensation in the tombs has to go somewhere and ends up on the walls as damp.
As for the salts in the temples, what about damp proof courses? a chemical dpam proof course could be injected an stop the rising salt laden water. I know that it would leave unsightly drill holes at the base, but what is this compared to watching the wall paintings crumble?

Oh that is awful. I love Egypt and will be visiting again in November for the 4th time. Is there anything we can do? Any charity we can raise funds for or just increase the publics awareness?
