Hi. Im writing from New Zealand. The article was very interesting and i have a question. I have been to Egypt many times and am returning again soon, my husband (of 25years) and myself would love to remarry in egypt and possibly a Bedouin wedding ..Is that possible and how can we organise the event..Thanks for your help..

  2. Ruth Shilling Says:

    Hello Lois,
If you would like me to help you contact the Bedouins that you see in the article to make a wedding celebration for you and your husband, please contact me. They usually have a big party with food and dancing to celebrate a wedding.

hello, I’m sorry for the late respons but I’m just back from Egypt. I am living in a bedouin village in South Sinaï. It is not that difficult to organise for you a real Bedouin wedding. I only hope you’ve seen a bedouin wedding before. The party can be organise for you without any problems you only have to know that to have a official wedding, that means that makes you offical wife and husband, it still is very difficult in Egypte. It needs a lot of paperwork and can only be officialized in Cairo or Alexandria. If you want more information about bedouin weddings, parties or about the magnificent village i am living in do not hesitate to contact me.
We also have a Lodge in the village, wich of course offers accomodations ( very clean) but only bedouin atmosphere and bedouin meals. A place where the land and here people welcomes you!
    Regards, Garneta

My husband and I took a tour of the Southern Sinai in July of 2005, through Ruth Shillings’s coordination. We spend 3 days with him, his friends and their families. We toured the desert, climbed Mount Sinai by camel, stayed in a bedouin stone village, were treated to magnificent meals by one of the wives, and throughly loved the entire experience. These people are truly remarkable, a real testament to endurance and passion. We will never forget that part of our trip and hope to one day, return. Good health and joy to all of you.
