Thank you so much for this article……. I learnt about the ancient egyptians at school and hold a soft spot for their history and mythology… I am travelling to egypt for the first time soon and I have been thinking of getting the eye of horus as a tatoo for years now, but never having more than a basic understanding of the symbol i didn’t want to….
Know that i am familiar with a more exact meaning and the differences between the left and the right eye i can make a decision as to what i want to do…
Thank you for answering questions that have been plaguing me for 5 years!

Very interesting article! It seems to me that perhaps the “eye” as presented was not necessarily the “physical eye” or even an organ of seeing. I am researching information I read “somewhere” and trying to find out more information on an ancient legend that if one looks upon the eyes (red glowing ones) of the gods they die…not so much from “being killed by the evil eye” but by a means of energy or technology we yet do not understand. Do you have any resources on this legend to which you can direct me?

    Thanks,
