    The author claims that the decision by Churchill supported by Wavell to divert forces from Egypt to help in Greece ‘was the worst of the war’. Although it was not realised at the time, the presence of these troops in Greece required Hitler to keep there divisions that he had planned to use in the invasion of Russia. Had Hitler been able to invade Russia a few weeks earlier than he did, Moscow might well have fallen and the whole story of the war could have been very different indeed. Who knows?
