'Ahmose-Nefertiry

18th Dynasty

'Ahmose-Nefertiry was the daughter of Sekenenre-Tao II and Queen Ahhotep and was the queen of the 18th Dynasty king 'Ahmose I who ruled from 1550 - 1525 BC. Some believe that she was married to Kamose, 'Ahmose's predecessor, who was killed during the war with the Hyksos. It is also thought that she was only a half sister to 'Ahmose.

'Ahmose-Nefertiry was the mother of two sons and four daughters and was mentioned in an inscription giving honors to her grandmother, Queen Tetisheri. Her name is also listed in Sinai as well as the island of Sai. There is a stela at Karnak where she is shown bringing offerings to Amon with the king.

She was honored by her son, Amenhotep I, whose early rule was during her lifetime. She shared a tomb and a temple with her son. Her mortuary cult remained popular for some time.
