Ankhnesmery-Re II6th Dynasty
Ankhnesmery-Re II was the wife of Pepi I
and the daughter of an official named Khui. Her sister
was Ankhnesmery-Re I and Djau
was her brother. She was the mother of Pepi II.
When Pepi II succeeded his brother, Nemtyemzaf,
Ankhnesmery-Re II was the regent for her son. Her brother
Djau, aided her as vizier. They
raised Pepi II together and kept Egypt stable until the
heir was old enough to rule on his own. The story of
Ankhnesmery-Re I and II were found on a tablet at Abydos.
