Pawero20th Dynasty
Pawero served during the reign of Ramesses IX
as the mayor of the western shore of Thebes. Pawero was
involved during the tomb robbery scandal of that era. He
was the chief of the necropolis police and a count. The
outcome of the trial that resulted from this scandal is
not known. Pawero threatened and abused a man named
Paser, who demanded that the wholesale robberies must
stop. Many high officials were involved with Pawero and
his gang. The discovery of the robberies of the royal
tombs caused a great scandal. An account of this scandal
is given on the Abbot and Amherst Papyri.
